I no longer know if I read this in the Boston Herald or in the Metro, but I read that on that disastrous Friday sports night, the Bruins on Versus got an 8 rating in their first of 4 losses to the Flyers, the Red Sox (who have laregely improved since) got a 6 on NESN while getting bombed by the Yankees, and the Celtics got a 4 on ESPN as they were thoroughly thrashed by the Cavs (whom they eventually beat). I'm impressed that many people were able to find Versus (especially those of us on DirecTV who were blacked out for most of the year), especially since every OTA station (even the public and Spanish ones) typically beats the highest rated cable station (usually USA). I'm hoping that the recent B's ratings victory was because of the closeness of the game (vs. the Sox and C's getting blown out) and not because of some other nefarious reason partially highlighted in a post of mine on the Boston radio pages.
