Recent fill ins on Mike & Mike

Besides me is anybody else tired of the recent fill ins that have been on Mike and Mike recently. The last 2 days last week including the day of the NBA draft John Salley was in for Mike Golic, and then Monday thru Wednesday ESPN Radio's early afternoon team of Ryen Russillo and Danny Kanell filled in for Mike Golic. Then yesterday Mike Golic returned to the show and they broadcasted the show live from Cleveland and the Indians stadium, and the broadcast included Mike Golc's two brothers as well. And now today and I am assuming most of if not all, now Mike Greenberg is off and I have to assume he is now on vacation. Adnan Virk filled in for Mike Greenberg today, and with Monday being the Fourth of July I would assume all the regular ESPN radio hosts including Mike & Mike will be off and there will be fill ins for them. I get it that it is summertime, and I bet both Mikes will want to use up as much vacation time as they have, and of course before November and December when they are off for Thanksgiving and then the last couple weeks of December which will be holiday time, which at that time that is all who will be in are people that will be filling in for them, until they return in 2017 to return to work and do their shows.

It's also the slow time of the sports year. Baseball is at its midseason point, with only the All Star Game and its associated activities as something to talk about for a few days. The NBA just crowned a champion, finished its draft, and is now signing free agents. The NHL is doing the same, to even less national interest. Football is in its "vacation" period between the end of mini-camps and the start of training camps at the end of this month. Not much to talk about.

August, with the Olympics, pre-season NFL, and the start of college football training camps, will probably have Mike & Mike and the rest of the regulars back on the air.

I'm really not tired of the fill ins. Except for the other members of the Golic family, I'm always impressed with the depth and quality of their bench. I loved it when John Salley was on.

Whoever is doing the show ought to be able to milk the Kevin Durant signing for the rest of this week. But you're right in that starting next week there will be very little to talk about until August, barring some off-the-field bombshell or a big trade involving one of the big-market baseball teams. The All-Star game hasn't been a conversation topic since the tie game that wound up bringing us the ridiculous tie-in with World Series home-field advantage without essentially changing the way the game is played -- that being, to baby the superstars by reducing their roles to three or four innings (and pitchers to one or two) so the lesser players get a chance to play are on the field and at the plate at the end of the game.

The only member of the Golic family that has filled in for him is his son Mike Golic Jr, I know Mike Golic I can't remember if it is Bob or Greg that also works as a sports talk radio show, but his show is not national like Mike * Mike and just airs on radio in Ohio. But certainly you can listen online.
