Saw the latest Indy trends, looks rather interesting. Seems the "Jack" format isn't making it in Indy, in St.Louis the Arch is a "Jack" format with Jocks and sits at #2. Any thoughts?

Trends

"isn't making it"? They've been top 5 (25-54)until this last trend or two. It's a little early to proclaim them a dud (and, they're in perhaps the only marke where a similar competitor is now on opposite them).

The Arch in St Louis is #1 25-54 and it's always been my contention that this generation of stations (variety hits) will eventually have personalities in some form. The stations in San Diego, Louisville and Phoenix have jocks at this point, they are among the few I'm aware of.

Re: Trends

I think The Arch sounds better. I spend a fair amount of time in both Indy and St. Louis, and I'm not all that impressed with Indy's Jack. Arch is a bit more refined and not quite as random, and I think it comes across better as a result. I think the lack of jocks and the "in your face" attitude of Jack may be a bit off base for certain parts of the Midwest. It'll do okay, but it'd probably do better with less edge and more personality and local appeal.

Arch-Jack

Agree on the Arch's sound- ditto w/Peak in Phoenix.
