All depends on the antenna. I've been using indoor TV antennas (both amplified and not amplified) and it drasticly improved all radio reception compared that that useless wire.
______________

I've been using a Receptor to pick up some local HD stations, stations that I am well within the 60dBu contour and the receiver "seems" lousy IMO.

It wont help much - I had to hook up a dipole, and that STILL hasnt gotten me all of the HD's...
______________

Is the new antenna the FM "Reflect" folded dipole that's made out of RG-6 coax?

If not, a vertical "sleeve dipole" (made with 1/4 wavelength of peeled-back braid and 1/4 wavelength of the center conductor, all sealed with heat-shrink tubing) would be convenient, unobtrusive, and efficient. -- Jason

I had to return my first Receptor due to poor receiver sensitivity. The second unit is fine. I use a passive loop for AM and TV rabbit ears (Horizonally mounted on the floor) for FM and I receive all the NYC area HD stations perfectly. I live apporx. 25 miles northwest of Manhattan.
