Reception Around Big Bear Lake

its poor, you have mostly stations that come in either from palm Springs or Victorville area, due to the elevation of Big Bear, and all of the mountains that surround it. i volunteer at a camp in Fawnskin, just 4 miles away from Big bear, we only get 100.5 FM, from Palm Springs, 96.5 fm from san diego, 99.1 kggi, from Riverside, and 95.1 KFRG from Riverside, and KBHR 93.3 FM, which is the local radio station, and the religious station out there, 105.5 FM, KWBB, the Word for Big Bear. :), those are the only ones i remember getting reception using a regular radio player.

That was KTOT. It similcast am KBBV 1050, which moved to Loma Linda. 101.7 is now KXSB, regional mexican for San Bernardino.

When I traveled up there in 2001 I remember several of the LA signals didn't exist as they were covered by other signals. I was able to copy a few San Diego and even Las Vegas.

Depends where you are in Big Bear too. You can get a different set of stations on one side from another. Last time I went up there to snowboard, I tried to pick up X 103.9, which is licensed to Lake Arrowhead and I got Recuerdos instead!

I've heard some LA stations up there, the one I remember is KCBS 93.1. But as mentioned, most San Diego stations can be picked up as well as High Desert like The Highway Stations.

In the early 1960's KFOX-FM Long Beach which was on 102.3 at that time, 1kw at 150ft. would come into Big Bear. Of course there were no other 102.3's in so cal at that time.
