Reception in Bangor, Maine

Quick question: While in Bangor, I picked up a country station on 98.1. Its moniker was "The Tide." The station was lousy at identifying itself, but from the commercials, I gathered that it was from St. Johns. Is this a normal catch from Bangor and/or Downeast Maine?

Yes, there's nothing around 98.1 in Bangor so it's the only regular long distance catch (other than the usual WHOM powerhouse) you receive

Thanks for the information. The reception on 98.1 was very, very spotty. Speaking of WHOM, can it be heard in Montreal? I have picked it up easily throughout the Northeast Kingdom area of Vermont.

Normally, no. Montreal is too far west and there are other stations on adjacent frequencies. Not to mention that the topography isn't favorable for it.

But, you can get it just fine in Sherbrooke, Quebec - which is pretty far north of Mt. Washington.
