Reception Question

In the late 60's? Then it was likely repeating KPEC 56 which was operated by Clover Park School District, if I recall. That went off and KTPS became Tacoma's PBS channel. (on channel 62, and then later 28)

Don't remember exactly where, but I saw a listing of Washington State translators and the station that fed them. It was probably in some sort of Broadcaster Yearbook type of thing. I remember seeing the Vancouver translator listed as being on Channel 4 and fed by KCPQ-TV in Tacoma and owned by Clover Park School District. This dated from when KCPQ-13 was a PBS affiliate and had replaced KPEC-56. KCPQ had more than one translator when it was a PBS station and I'm sure these were deleted after KCPQ was purchased by the Kelly brothers. None of the KCPQ/Clover Park translators I saw in the listings were still on the air (I have worked at KCPQ since 1988 and know what translators we have). Part of the Kelly deal was money to put KTPS on from the Pt. Defiance tower on Channel 28 as well as putting on KCKA from Centralia on Channel 15, sort of eliminating the need for most of those translators. If I ever stumble upon that Broadcaster Yearbook I'll post a list of them.

Oh - so that was when KCPQ was a secondary PBS for a little while in the late '70s. If you lived in Tacoma, you had not one, two but THREE PBS stations at that time! (9, 13 and 62) Your choice on who to watch for Sesame Street and Masterpiece Theatre!
Broadcasting Yearbook of 1980 says KCPQ is "on 4 translators" - probably the one in Vancouver WA on 4 and a few others. Doesn't say where, darn it!

DavidEduardo, that's what I've been looking at - but which yearbook listed translators? The 1980 edition only said "on 4 translators" for KCPQ - which yearbook lists the translators, repeating stations and locations?
