Reception, raitings

I was looking at the latest raitings and saw that WCBS (before switch) got some votes for the Poughkeepsie market. It's been my experience that 101.1 doesn't come in much at all up here in the car (let alone at home). Do these people have super radios and/or massive antennas? How weak must reception be before the average listener tunes out? Does the average listeners tolerance for weak reception vary from car to home? WBTU is another... it shows up for Orange county.

I'm trying to get a grasp as to why NYC stations show up here, when reception is next to nonexistent.

I don't know about Poughkeepsie, but in Middletown, they come in ok.<P ID="signature">______________

perhaps NYC stations show up in the counties like Dutchess and Orange because it includes any in-car or any at-work listening which may take place. That listening could very well take place in the prime coverage area of NYC metro stations. Arbitron is more interested in what the diary holders are listening to and not where they happen to be at the time.
