Recommendations For Broadcast Equipment Supplier

I started noticing the BSW problems lately myself. The comment that they are disorganized seems to calibrate with my experience. When I was actively involved in radio engineering, I purchased almost everything from BSW even though I knew Bob Cauthen when he was making sales calls on small market stations himself in person.

One of the things I do is provide consulting for Internet broadcasters and podcasters. Many of them like to buy professional-grade equipment once they've become stable with their shows. BSW didn't respond to my requests to form an affiliate-type relationship (I wasn't looking for a commission) such that I could say to someone, just call xxx at BSW and tell them you want the such-and-such. The price is $xxx.

Maybe one of the other listed vendors will want some business. BSW was great for a long time.
 
Mike, I know of a few full-time contract engineering friends that have indeed worked similar deals with SCMS. I'm pretty sure with their deal there was a little sweetening for the leads too. I suppose that depends on how much a guy could bring to the table, but it's worth a try.
 
Thanks, OKCRadioGuy. As I mentioned, I'm not looking for a referral fee or a commission on the sale. I'm trying to find a company that understands the need and doesn't say "duh" when they hear the word "podcasting". One of my "clients" just ordered an Omnia Axia console. That's not too shabby. Other purchases include microphones, mixers, mic processors, speakers, and such.
 
I normally deal with Broadcasters General Store, Giesler Broadcast and SCMS.
All good companies with good customer service, some are just cheaper than others on different pieces of gear.
 
Hi Mike. Yeah. I've built several non-FM stations as of late. They are getting to where they are wanting to put in stuff as good as the OTA stations. Good vendors should understand there's a whole new revenue source for them to sell to with all the streaming and podcasts going on out there. Times are a chang'in...
