Record Debut For "Undercover Boss" After Super Bowl

Super Bowl XLIV wasn't the only program on Sunday night to set records. The show that followed, the reality series "Undercover Boss," widely panned in circles before it even went on the air, got 38.6 million viewers, which CBS says is the "largest audience ever for a new series following the Super Bowl."

It also is the biggest debut in nearly 25 years, as well as the largest debut for a reality series.

(We'll see if "Boss" can maintain these numbers next week.)

It was a really good show. I watched it because I like prank shows, although that's not what this was. And because Phillip Drummond did the same thing years ago on "Diff'rent Strokes". But he wasn't nearly as good as this man. They called him "Professor" because he sounded too intelligent to be a working stiff.

Now the next episode looks to be the usual reality show junk. I hope I'm wrong.

Great show...don't you wish you had a decent boss like that? The ratings are no surprise since people are obsessed over jobs now. The Hooters episode next week: looks like that restaurant manager's gonna get fired.

I think Waste Management picks up in my neighborhood. I take my own trash to the "dump" we used before incorporation because that way I can recycle, though now we have recycling. My excuse now is I won't remember to put out either container. But the episode really made the company look good.

And therein lies why this is such a novel idea for a series. Think of all the "tie-ins" that the company will be receiving from the show.

These episodes will be good for public relations, that's for sure.

I thought Hooter's was going to look bad, but it was really only the one man and they said he cleaned up his act. In the office it was beginning to look like he wouldn't. I've never felt the girls were exploited; they all seem to enjoy wearing the outfits.

The best thing was how those girls looked in their outfits. Now the men might complain (I know I would), but those t-shirts the girls wore for the interviews on the street might be better uniforms if they want to improve their image. And the shorts might not need to be as short.

It'll be good while it lasts, but there are only so many CEOs who can do this--plus the man last night said people would know him. They could change it if some lower-level managers who weren't well-known were willing.

I missed it,just what we need,Another Crap reality show.anyway I like to see CEO's from WalMart,Burger King,Subway,McDonalds,UPS and Fedex to get on the show.To name a few.

I would imagine, should these big names line up to be featured on the show, that their installments would be saved for "sweeps" periods, whereas lesser known corporations would get their turn during other months. Think about it. On paper, if you saw that WalMart and Wawa were scheduled to be featured on "Boss," which one would you tune in for?
