Three stations in Boston were allowed to run DTV nightlight past the June 12, 2009 transition date; the stations of which were WGBH 2, WBZ 4, and WCVB 5. All of the stations ran nightlight programming for one month (until July 12), including WGBH (although the FCC nightlight listing says June 26 was when WGBH was supposed to shutoff for good).
Relevant threads in this forum:
WGBH had ran a unique nightlight, looping an episode of "This Old House" that was dedicated to the DTV transition. WBZ simply ran NAB nightlight. WCVB ran a nightlight which had the NAB nightlight video, the DTV webcasts from WCVB (Digital Truth), and apparently, the same DTV episode of "This Old House" that ran on WGBH.
WBZ went off the air sometime during the daytime hours of July 12, but no other information is given. WCVB went off the air on July 13 at around 12:00:03 AM (EST), while WGBH went off the air on July 13 at around 12:07 AM, according to the threads I mentioned. It sounded like WGBH and WCVB turned off their analog signal without any fanfare.
A terminated YouTube user (terminated around early 2010s?) named TVNewsRI had recorded a video of WGBH going off the air on July 13, but the video is now lost. The original URL of the now deleted video was at youtube.com/watch?v=ADIarvRzQLs (metadata can be viewed on the Wayback Machine here).
If you have any details or footage concerning this, please let me know. Thank you.
