There was a very good article in today's Wall Street Journal on the crucial role Ham radio operators played in getting information in and out of the disaster sites.

It would be nice if something similar could have been said about Part-15 stations in the area.

In either case, it really drives home the point of how necessary community radio is and that the FCC should stop hindering LPAM or LPFM with their needless delays and overregulation.

Because of their small size, micro-broadcasters and LPFM-AM stations have the ability to turn on a dime and be up and running after a disaster when often their larger counterparts can't.
