....and what if the Jets/Raiders game and "Heidi" aired on different stations in the same market?

It did in Birmingham, where CBS and NBC were held by one dominant VHF, with the UHF getting its rejects.

And since both Bear Bryant (U. of Ala.) and Shug Jordan's (Auburn) college football review shows were beamed statewide to all NBC affils (B'ham, Huntsville, Montgomery, Florence, Mobile), it's highly probable the Jets game didn't air anywhere in Alabama, except for WBMG-TV 42.
