Red Nickerson Retires

Red Nickerson who use to be on Y 106 & Y104 and until recently been calling in on Captin Herb Emory's Nascar show on WSB on the weekends has retired. I enjoyed listening to him talk about Nascar,he was such a trip. He has his own website,Red Nickerson.com,there you can order his Stock car Comedy CD.

Weird I always thought it was Red Neckerson. I guess I was stereotyping based on his Redneck schtick.

I met him last year and told him I was a fan since the McKee days and that I was glad he was still on Herb's show. He seemed a little surprised and was very nice. I also think he did funny bits. It's easy to act like a redneck but it's hard to make it funny year after year. Somehow he added a little twist to it that I liked and I'll miss him.

Neckerson, not Nickerson.

Worked with him at the old Y106/Y104. 1987-1991 was the period that Rhubarb/BJ, Red and the two New South stations were on top of the local country format. Then Moby came along...

I don't think I can believe that Red Neckerson is retiring until I hear it directly from him. He is just too creative and funny to turn it off. He is a great guy, very professional and it was a pleasure to have worked with him. So until I see something official from him, this ain't happening.

Gerry and Ms Gerry (Dixie) are two of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. And much of his comedy never got noticed because it was a throwaway line that you were laughing so hard you missed. He had one bit with 'jaybirds and fruit bats and mosquitoes and...' doign soemthing or other. And rioght behind it a rant about the househiold changing containing 'and those bats rearranging the furniture' as an afterthought. Everything he does is like that.. five or six levels in it.
