Red Sox back on WCRN

Although some feel this is good news, we're MUCH happier about our additional hour of paid programming following The Drew Mortgage show.

If that means noon to 1:00PM, is WCRN simulcasting Barry Armstrong's Lunch Money from WRKO??? I heard that the Drew Mortgage program (the longest hour in radio) had moved to 11:00AM to noon. Is that correct? The best time for the Drew Mortgage program would be 4:00AM. Are you sure that you couldn't talk Mr Rawen (or how ever he spells it) into that hour? Just think of how much of Maine, New Brunswick. and Nova Scotia WCRN's 50,000-watt skywave covers at that hour! Oh, and how about that creep with the British accent from Oregon (Foundation of Human Understanding) for 2:00AM to 4:00AM. Would give WCRN a nice lucrative lineup from 2:00AM to 5:00AM. Maybe even enough cash flow to cover expenses ;)

Even though the WCRN schedule doesn't reflect it (is it ever correct? :( ), the Drew Mortgage show is indeed on from 11 a.m. - Noon, followed by the Midday Report with Hank Stolz until 1, and then paid programming from 1 - 2 p.m.

I also heard WCRN advertise for the Midnight Radio Network overnights. The schedule still lists Jerry Pierce "Radio Detective" from 1 - 4 a.m. The schedule will most likely be updated about the time they replace the Midnight Radio Network with something else. ;D

One other thought about the return of the Red Sox to WCRN...IMHO, this is a pretty solid indication that Entercom has no plans to take WEEI to one of their FM signals in Boston. If that was in the cards, they would have had no reason to place the Sox back on WCRN when their FM properties pretty much blanket Central Massachusetts. Even more true when they are now apparently looking for an air staff for "Mike FM" which is being discussed in the other thread.

This is good news for those of us in metrowest. WCRN has a much more reliable signal at night than WEEI in the Framingham area. 'CRN gets its button back on my car radio.

True re: WCRN picking up Sox and Mike hiring jocks means a WEEI simulcast on 93.7 unlikely now. Maybe they figured out the 1440 in Worc. wasn't enough. Yes maybe some in central MA could get Sox from 1080 but not good enough.

One thing's for sure--barring any break of contracts, it would be till at least 2016 before you'd get any chance of hearing "the Sports Hub Red Sox Radio Network" (which would give the Sox an FM in Bos.)
