RED SOX IN STEREO ON THE RADIO

It would be nice to have Sox radio broadcasts in stereo .The Patriots Radio Network has done it for many seasons now. In Greater Boston, WEEI-FM 103.7 or WBOQ 104.9 FM can be heard in many parts of Eastern Mass.Something for Entercomm to add to RKO or EEI-AM, if they go IBOC.
NESN is improving with Dolby 5.1 surround audio mix on their HDTV broadcasts.

Mike 93.7 should do it...would be great for people in post office where I work as WMKK is one of the
few FM stations that can be heard clearly in the whole building

Well, you can hear them in stereo right now with a good radio and good, hi-gain directional rooftop antenna. Just aim south towards WEEI-FM on 103.7! ;D I've gotten 103.7...faintly, but listenable...on my car radio even in Brighton if I'm on top the south side of Corey Hill, or sometimes the south side of Chestnut Hill.

Other than that...I suppose WRKO/WEEI could install a C-QUAM AM Stereo encoder but I doubt it. :p More likely you'll hear stereo when Entercom Corporate decides to start implementing HD Radio on their AM's. When that edict comes down, I have to think WEEI/WRKO will be at the top of that list thanks to the Sox. But it won't happen until the FCC officially enters the March R&O (that authorizes nighttime HD Radio) in the Federal Register and the official time period (30 days, IIRC) passes and it becomes "official". Even then it'll take a little time for Entercom to implement it. At the rate things are going, I would be surprised if we see Sox games in HD Radio this season. Maybe next year.

By the way, I've noticed that you can hear the crowd noise much better on the AM stations WRKO/WEEI than you can on WEEI-FM. I remember this was true for WBOQ-FM last year, too (are the Sox still on WBOQ?). Anyways, the processing just seemed much better "sounding" on AM than FM...weird. Maybe it's just personal preference...

Sox (and Celts) are still on WBOQ 104.9...lic. to Gloucester with xmtr there too but studios in N. Beverly.
I mentioned I work in N. Reading...in a couple parts of my workplace it comes in but not too strong.

A few teams have switched their flagships to FM including Pirates, Orioles...

A mono signal transmitted over an FM station with its stereo pilot on still isn't stereo. Try again.

Fair enough, I'll record it the next chance I get and phase-invert one of the channels. If the audio disappears completely, then we'll know it really is a "dual mono" instead of true stereo. But that crowd noise sure sounded like stereo to me.

As of fall 2005, the last time I was in the Worcester area with a C-Quam AM car stereo, WVEI 1440 still had an AM stereo carrier on the air, though they rebroadcast the direct feed from mono parent station WEEI 850. No separation, but the stereo indicator was on.

I never installed my old mid-80's Sony AM stereo/FM stereo deck into the car that I bought last year because the FM reception and the audio amplifier were so much inferior to the modern JVC deck that came in the car. Instead, I use an AM stereo Walkman plugged into an FM transponder to rebroadcast WJIB in stereo on 88.5 to the FM stereo, but the Walkman has no visual stereo indicator, so I can't tell if a station such as WVEI broadcasting a mono audio feed is still transmitting an AM stereo carrier.

Listen to the friday Texas game on WBOQ -FM , sounded like clear mono to me. Granted a road game. Game ran late after work. If a home games run late, will try and catch in the car, or weekend game on WEEI-FM 103.7
