Red Sox on WMEX - Opening theme

Wasn't WPLM-FM Plymouth the Sawx flagship station for a brief time?? Sort of remember the jingle they used to for their Red Sawx Radio Network.. the "Campbell Sports Network"
WPLM was the flagship and 107.9FM and 1430 AM then know as WWEL was the Boston affiliate. Reportedly Jack Campbell owner of WPLM was a good friend of Tom Yawkey

WWEL was used in 1976-78, and when they were sold, WPLM became an affiliate of WITS and then the flagship in 1983

Campbell was friends with Haywood Sullivan

WRONG. WRKO bought the Red Sox rights in 1986. When WPLM had the rights WWEL was an affiliate. That ended when Heftle bought the station and the format went from Beautiful Music to Disco

1510 went broke due to the Bruins and Red Sox Rights. Both the Sox and the Bruins at that point had no flagship. WPLM offered them both a deal to finish out the rest of the contract to keep them on the air. Jack Conners of Reagan Communications I think brokered the deals.

I stand corrected. Thank you. Why did the games move from 1510 to WPLM
The Bruins were the first team to bail from WITS and went to WPLM in 1981 with WDLW 1330 as the Boston signal.

The Achilles heel for 1510 was the nighttime signal to the SW and W. They moved the transmitter from North Quincy to Waltham in 1979 and were allowed to go to 50kw at night, but that made things worse. WITS could be heard in Bergen, Norway, but not in West Newton.
