REDDING / KZRO-FM

Is KZRO-FM / Mt Shasta still up for sale? I am assuming that's a big YES!

In the current radio climate:

• How much would you offer Mr. Crepps for it (considering the new CP still has to get built)?

• Once it's on the air, what format would you put on it to compete in the Redding market?

• Are there any real format holes in Redding? Going up and down the dial (I am visiting) I think that pretty much everything is covered (News/Talk, AC, Country, Rock, Urban, Spanish, Adult Hits, Oldies, Smooth Jazz, etc.)

I realize the KZRO topic was discussed in an older post, but radio has changed in the last few months, and I would like to get some fresh input from the experts, especially those that still believe in radio and that would have a legitimate view on making KZRO-FM a competitor in Redding.

Thank you for your time and input.

According to this link, KZRO is still for sale:

Whenever I pass through Redding, I notice less and less "localism" on the radio stations as a whole.
Lots of syndication, automation, and less personality 'round the clock - all designed to keep costs down...

Maybe a AAA format will work, if programmed similar to KHUM, Garberville (near the Coast), or a
sports station, now that KNRO 1670 dropped sports. 1670 now repeats a Monterey Bay AAA station
that offers little localism for Redding listeners - except maybe a local commercial drop-in...

Be warned...Redding's an over-radioed market, thus competitive for whatever advertising dollars remain...

Best of luck, MARIPILY85! Stay in touch...

who misses KAVA 1450 in Burney, KSXO/KVCV 600 in Redding, and the old 1060 (KPAY) in Chico
(all 3 frequencies now defunct)
