Redux: When the weather is hellish...where the hell is Mellish?

Here we are.....dang ol' hurricane doesn't know which way to go.....and good ol' Kurt is on vacation again!
Tornadoes rake historic swath through downtown Atlanta....where's Kurt?
How much vacation can one man take?
Must we be left in the sticky fingered clutches of Glenn Burns and his cohorts?

I hear Macon is a nice place to visit this time of year. Perhaps he is there.

A little birdie told me he was seen in a Macon Waffle House having breakfast with a fairly new Atlanta morning show host. Seems they had an impromptu bacon eating contest.

Note to WSB-AM management: A patch cable from Channel 2's studios into WSB-AM would be a lot cheaper than Kirk Mellish.

Seems like Glenn Burns and David Chandley shoulder the WSB-AM load a good half of the year anyway. And they're more accurate!

This is a systemic problem. Perhaps if the weather folks were made to live in trailer parks, they would be more serious about their craft.

I am tired of the Weather folks living in their big mansions on Weather Hill. (redux)

You are kidding....right?

Kirk is the best in Atlanta by far. Glenn is the complete nut. Cook is good, but overall Kirk blows them all away, and if you look at his blog, he has been updating it daily for the last few days on Fay. Give him a break.

When the weather gets hellish, I often check a blog first. I have met Glenn Burns several times through his son and do not find him to be a nut at all. I do not watch WSB news much but he is the only reason to watch.

Does Kirk owe you money? Is that why you're tracking his whereabouts so closely?

Kirk is on the air this morning, talking up this non-event known as Fay. And, since Kirk does work 7 days a week, I would imagine he is entitled to a vacation. I'm sure he made his plans months ago, and even he's not that good of a forecaster to have seen this storm back in June or May or whenever he scheduled his time off. But he's on the air now, and Atlanta is safe from Glenn "there are 3 clouds in the Carribean so stock up on batteries and toilet paper" Burns.

Suggestion to all of you who are monitoring Kirk's whereabouts. Get a real life. Thank you.

Mellish, and Ken Cook, are the ONLY two forecasters in Atlanta worth paying attention to - that's why we need the "Mellish Tracking Center."
I'm insanely jealous of anyone who gets as much vacation as Mellish......

Early last week Kirk was talking about FAY being on the way long before any local or national TV or radio said a peep about it! And I too saw on his blog since I think Friday he was updating Fay ON HIS VACATION TIME. I for one dont work at all on my vacations, hence the term. Driving home from my kids soccer game that night I heard him doing the tornado warning for downtown, so no vacation there, unless he taped it in advance. If I were on-call 24/7 I'd want 10 weeks vacation. But I am glad for one thing, that I am not in the public spotlight where people can obsess over me. We can hide our life and work, unless you want to give us detailed info so we can blog critiques on you. Anyway, I think he forecasts for Atlanta, the weather is hellish in Florida not here.

1.Mellish gets more vacation time than Johnny Carson used to get. Good for him!
2.I have observed that Mellish is more accurate than others in his forecasting. I would feel more warm and fuzzy about impending weather if Mellish was guessing.
3.It just seems like Mellish is on vacation when many weather situations have occurred in the past. Why take vacations in April when you know it's severe weather season in Georgia? Why take vacations the last weeks of August/first weeks of September when you know it's hurricane season?
When you have a public job, either in politics or media, putting up with the picayune public is part of the deal.
I'm glad Mellish is back on the job this morning and watching the charts. I'm doing my best rain dance, saying the mystical words, and shaking the chicken bones.......

Only the last sentence was meant as a joke. They're all inaccurate!
