reel to reel tape deck needed

anyone have a working reel to reel that's gathering dust in the closet ? i have a ton of old reels i need to take to hard drive before they rust away.. i'd like to find an old standup sony,teac,panasonic..etc..needs to have 1 7/8, 3 3/4, and 7 1/2..don't need 15ips..doesn't have to record..could just be a player as long as it plays at correct speed..anyone have one they could let go for around 25.00 or so..i would think these would be obsolete in todays world..thanks..pj

Check ebay, sometimes you can get a deal and might find one local.Check with local recording studios as well. but the 7 1/2-15ips machines in decent condition are going for $200+ otaris $300 +

Good luck
Bill

thanks..i've checked ebay and as you say, the top line pro machines do bring a bundle..but somewhere there has to be an old home unit just gathering dust..none of my tapes are 15 ips..most are 3 3/4 or 7 1/2..back in the 70's a home system wasn't complete without a reel to reel...i know the teac 3340 and similar decks are still very desirable , just something about that old warm sound that clinical cd's just don't have..but you have to have an ear to appreciate..i'll keep looking.. ;)

Delta, you may want to call Lee Erwin at Q-108 in Clarksville. He has been at Q-108 over 30 years and may have some old equipment either at home or gathering dust at studio. I remember we cut spots on tape reels.

WNQM used to have one. They probably still have it. (But you didn't hear it here! ;D) Call them at 255-1300. They have been cart-less and tape-less since after the 1993 fire. I seriously doubt it's been used at any time since then. I don't even know why they still have it. They have nothing to play on it.

Delta..if the above help doesn't pan out. e-mail me. I have a Tascam 32 (10" reel 15/7.5 2 track) in good shape just removed from the rack. 100.00 plus shipping and it's yours. Pay Pal accepted.
