Reese Hopkins replaces Todd Feinberg

Here is the press release, has anyone heard the new guy? Todd got the axe, he refused another asignment.

Entercom New England and WRKO are pleased to announce REESE HOPKINS as
the new Mid-Morning Host on WRKO, Weekdays 10a-12n.

Reese comes to WRKO with a variety of broadcasting, reporting and
writing experience:

-Executive Producer on SIRIUS Satellite Radio's "Howard 100" channel.

-News Anchor and News Director for HOT 97.1, New York and POWER 105.1,
Hartford.

-Comedic Writer for "MAD TV" and "Saturday Night Live".

His WRKO show, which debuts tomorrow (Wednesday, December 19th), will
be a lively discussion about the day's hot topics, with heavy doses of
pop culture and political discussions.

Reese had a two day audition in October on WRKO and immediately showed
up in our focus group research. Our listener base told us Reese was a
personality who entertained them and a personality they wanted to hear
more often.

I heard Reese on his second day of his tryout and he was so much different from Feinberg. He has a lot of energy and is very knowledgeable about the political scene. It will definitely be a change from Todd due to his high energy and enthusiasm. Todd declined what was most likely the morning drive slot with Finneran and who knows what his future hold. That is a hard time slot to do because of the shortness due to time restraints with Rush having to be played live. Hopefully this could be a good thing for WRKO to bring excitement to the station.

Good for Todd.

[Presumably] he's still got the weekend show, and how long could anyone go on being the WRKO utility person?

Looking at the resume of Hopkins, this is obviously a way to increase the 25-54 demo fineberg didn't have

six months into it when he discovers that majority of his audience are people wearing adult diapers, he'll quit.

Listening to the clips, I can see why they hired him. He's energetic, has a great voice and is quite humorous. Feinburg's apparent abrupt departure is odd, to say the least, but I understand why Hopkins made such an impression.

"WRKO-AM is getting a new host, the only full-time African American on Boston’s two major talk radio stations, while Todd Feinburg is close to signing a deal to co-host the morning-drive show with Tom Finneran, the Herald has learned. Reese Hopkins, who filled in on WRKO (680 AM) six weeks ago, starts tomorrow in Feinburg’s old 10 a.m. to noon slot, leaving Feinburg without a show."

But the article also says Entercom says they're done with Todd. (Including weekends, his syndie show gone
too)

He'll have to do a helluva lot better than he did today when he spent the whole show talking about himself. Don't we all get that anyway with Severin?

To be fair, Severin doesn't talk exclusively about himself. He gives extremely interesting commentaries on countertops, sedation dentistry and Eric Clapton ::)

To be gentile let's just say that Reese is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and he seems to have little command of Boston's local issues.
