Regarding the jack.fm stream

I noticed the online stream does not feature the standard Cogan liners and personality. Am I incorrect in thinking the jack.fm stream is more to be considered a marketing tool to demo the format to perspective "buyers"? If this is the case, why has the voice of Jack been omitted here? I also understand the variety on the webstream is much more varied and deeper than your typical SparkNet terrestrial Jack-FM.

CJ, can you clarify this for me?

Thanks.

The stream is still haunts jack.fm is the same prototype stream that Famous Amos and I launched back in the 50s (or something like that) and later somehow popped up on 96.9 in Vancouver in December 2002.

I keep meaning to have Amos revoice it and move it to the new domain - NONAMEFM.COM "Playing What Lawyers Say We Can" - but haven't yet.

At first I thought that was all sarcasm... but then i went to nonamefm.com... and saw that there's an actual logo there with "coming soon" above it.

Is this meant to be a parody of Jack FM, and only that?

I like the current stream on Jack.FM... real big variety and lack of commercials is awesome. If only they got Cogan to do the stream... his take on the Jack persona is just perfect.

Heh... No Name FM is gonna have like a 50 song playlist. Silly lawyers.

Mike:

Ask yourself this, please: how can Cogan's take on the "JACK persona" be more "perfect" than that of the guy who invented it?

I'm just asking ...

Hey Anita,

I understand your question fully and here's my answer... I've listened to both the online Jack.FM and the terrestrial Jack (from one city or another) for almost 3 years now and maybe I haven't listened the ENOUGH of the online stream to know, but Cogan seems much more sarcastic, dry and witty. I don't know if that was the original idea of how "Jack" was supposed to be, but if it is, then Cogan nails it.

On the stream, that Jack just seems more laid-back and much less sarcastic. Maybe THAT's how Jack is supposed to be.

I never said that Cogan is THE Jack persona. I just said his TAKE on it is good. Maybe I shouldn't have said "perfect", either. I probably should have just said that I prefer Cogan's take on Jack over CJ's.

I'm sorry, and in no way mean to be putting down Bob, Amos or you who all provide the voices for Jack.FM. You guys do a great job on the stream. I just think Howard's got that knack for the "sarastic" take on Jack.
