Regent/Evansville/The Future

Well, since Regent didn't get Jack and the fact that they have competition for all of their stations except for WGBF FM/AM, what now?

Will they still procceed with nuking Kiss? And to what?

I can think of very few niches that would actually work in Evansville. Prehaps what they should do is swap with GBF-FM and put Rock on 106.1 as the Newburgh stick is closer and more powerful and on 103.1 a Hip Hop/R&B deal to target the blacks as 103.1 might have a signal in the black parts of Evansville. Mabye strike a deal with the WEOA guys to move that format over to the FM side since they already air ABC's the Touch, but in Afternoon Drive time and part of the weekends air Hip Hop and R&B Yes, I am aware that there are a bunch of racists and all that, but staying in a battle with Hot is probably not a long term strategy.

There's CCM, but if 107.1 just dumped that, then what does that say about the viableness of it?

And you can forget about a WIKY competitor on a Class A. Unless you try Smooth Jazz. I'm sure some of the downtown establishments would actually like that:)<P ID="signature">______________

I don't think we're going to see Kiss change formats anytime soon. But if they do, I like your idea of moving GBF to the stronger 106 and using 103 for a more city-friendly format like Hip Hop. Evansville may only be 9% black, but that's still an underserved 9% of the population. (Not to mention, think of how many white kids would like the format.)

Smooth Jazz would be great, but I don't see it ever happening as long as WUEV still focuses on Jazz much of the time. Seems like anyone who listens to the format is already loyal to WUEV. If they ever dropped it though, the format could work in this market.

I don't see any big changes in Evansville unless someone new flips from Country to a more "urban" format...country is definitely overserved here, just like many other places in Indiana/Illinois

I think 93.5 The Wolf (WLFW) is doing much better than 99.5 WKDQ! WKDQ is too commercial overloaded and seems to act like they are the only ones on the radio.

The blacks? Who are we here, Pat Robertson?

Well, it's clear that there is a large calling for Hip-Hop/R&B in Evansville. Look how well WEOA does...and it's AM!!! Having it on an FM signal would be great, the AFRICAN AMERICANS would love it, as would the white people. I'm pretty sure the purple people and aqua marine people would enjoy it as well. Although, as I'm sure you know, Regent talking to WEOA probably isn't going to happen anytime soon, since WEOA is leased from South Central.
