REGENT'S NUMBERS OUT...BIG DECLINES IN THE QUEEN CITY

I don't see any station going down in the ratings

Which makes the decline in income and the performance of management even more of an issue...

WYRK Nights

I believe that WYRK is the only live shift from 7P-12M in the Rand building. Somebody's gotta sign the logs, so there may not be big savings if they go automated or syndicated.

There was a statement tonight (I think on R&R) that Regent is actually going to be HIRING. Looks like more salespeople and up to a 50% increase in some markets.

That'll solve the problem. (Please set sarcasm filter to "high") So rather than having fifteen sales people each making $80g's with a commission structure that gives them incentives, there'll likely be twenty-two sales people, a lower commission rate (7% agency, 10% direct) and a few sales people making $50g's with the majority making 35g's. This reminds me of that story about the restaurant that didn't have many customers. Rather than improve the menu and the food and invest in advertising, the owner hires more waiters.

The vision I get out of this is, more sales staff doing VT shifts...?
Would that be correct?

If the ratings are not the problem why is it a problem to hire more salespeople? Help me understand if you would please. Thanks!

Floored

13th, you're right. I forgot about 'BLK, and the fact that Regent's on 2 floors at the Rand.

Yezi, sales people don't voice-track. Sales people sell. There are very few examples of people who are proficient doing both.

More sales people will not make Regent more efficient. Better management, better training, and wiser use of resources would make Regent more efficient. The "Silver Standard" has been sub-standard for as long as I can remember. Why Regent kept him on is beyond my comprehension.

It's likely Regent retained the Silver standard because the gentleman knew the operation, knew the market, had a good track record and turned some strong closing numbers when CBS sold to Regent. Retaining him made more sense than bringing in some palooka from Utica-Rome. According to associates, the man has a serious "little man complex" but he apparently manages the cluster efficiently by whatever means, fear and intimidation alledgedly being two of them according to former (female) employees. There's a lot of that going around these days. He probably treats his mom very nicely.

Sorry...either I was thinking of smaller markets, or I know something you don't. ;)
