It joins all the other chains at the Methuen Loop. They say they are looking for other sites up and down the eastern seaboard
It may be a hard sell in New England where Red Lobster had a rough time going up against the thousands of spectacular local real New England seafood restaurants. The stuff Red Lobster call New England Clam Chowder is a diners nightmare if they have ever eaten the real stuff served in Essex and Gloucester.
May also have a rough go of it in the Baltimore area with all the great local crab shacks.
Where I live we have all three. I bought the computer I am using at Staples. It was just the first place I happened to go.anotherguy said:Mentioning Office Max made me think that there are no Staples stores in Memphis or Jackson, TN, although they have Office Max and Office Depot. The closest Staples are in Tupelo, MS and Nashville.
Hardee's used to be bigger than McDonald's in NC but that may not be true now. I remember ads in the 70s with the lyrcs "Hurry on down to Hardee's, baby, where the burgers are charcoal-broiled."Gregg said:Hardee's...The chain only made it into a four or five locations in NJ and about a dozen on Long Island when we were seeing Hardee's ads many years ago. I can remember Mama Cass of The Mamas and Papas singing "I hurried on down to Hardee's where the burgers are charcoal-broiled." All those Hardee's closed decades ago, well before the merger with Carl's Jr. I don't think I've seen any ads recently for Hardee's.
We have an ice cream-only place around here with seats outside. It's a classic building, though, on the National Register or something. I think they open in winter. They still sell "Mr. Misty".Gregg said:Dairy Queen...We have a few Dairy Queens here and there in the NYC market but mostly ice cream-only stores with no enclosed seating, only open in the summer. Yet we see ads all year long for DQ on cable, hawking burgers and other non-ice cream foods. The nearest DQ full-menu stores are in the Allentown market.
I enjoy their commercials, though I only know of one location in the Charlotte, NC area. There could be others.OhioMediaWatch said:I very occasionally have seen Jack in the Box commercials, but they have no locations here in Ohio.
They are moving this way, though...they just opened up in Indianapolis.
They started there in the mid90s. Tampa was their first store. On Dale Mabry, I think it was.DToTheJ said:@Crainbebo: Carrabba's also has locations in Florida. I know of at least one location in the Tampa area.

As I said, SuperValu has struggled as a retail operator and needs cash badly. Shaw's has been rumored to be for sale for years now but, at this point, who would want it. There have been other rumors for a couple of years that the guy who owned the original Star Markets in Boston wanted to buy those back but that hasn't happened either. Possibly the only chain making money for SuperValu is the Save-A-Lot chain.
I saw an ad the other day on one of the national nets (can't remember which one) that had both Carl's Jr. and Hardee's logos in the same ad.borderblaster said:Sonic has killed Rally's in the Dayton area since they came to the Northlands. You'll see lots of abandoned Rally's locations.
How similar are Hardee's and Carl Jr's ads since the rest of the branding is almost the same....if you can see both anywhere
