It is Raúl Alarcón, Sr.'s WZMQ in Key Largo, Monroe County. The station has a half decent signal in far South Dade, around Homestead, where there is a population of Mexicans. The 60 dbu covers Homestead and all the way to Goulds, but the 70 dbu falls just short of Homestead. Remember, this station is really in the Florida Keys, not Dade County.

It does not reach Miami proper, which does not matter in this case as there is essentially no Mexican population outside South Dade.

Nice! thanks David E i wonder how big number wise the mexican and central american population is in that Area i know in ft myers naples and orlando their is a substancial amount of mexican and central american ppl!

To basically reiterate what David E. said, you could probably get a clear signal in your car with 106.3 up to Northern Miami. You can probably picke it up on a boombox starting around Coral Gables.

Probably a lot less than Orlando or Tampa. Most of the hispanics in South Florida are Cuban and Puerto Rican with a large smattering of people from South America. The Mexicans are primarily in Homestead and a small contingent (as of the last five or so years) in Ft. Lauderdale and Hollywood. I would say Mexicans only make up 5% of South Florida's population.

Not if they look at the last four or five month's worth of ratings.

Funny David E you always find the way to amuse me!!

Yeah, stick a fork in him... he's done. San Francisco results are even worse. Or ask Entravision how he did in their markets. Or San Diego, where he peaked at a 0.9 share.

We finaly agree on somthing mr David E but he to me Pioling is just a market Tacktic he has not real talent he's just a product of Univision! I may not be the best out their but ive been to many markets and have a prover track record and belive i have a ear for talent and he just doesnt impress me im sure you will disagree!!

Nobody can get the kind of numbers Piolín gets without being not just good but actually great.

My first experience with Piolin was at KWIZ in Santa Ana where he did novernights and always seemed to th eowner to talk too much; but when the morning guy was taken away, my first thought was to put Eddie Sotelo en mornings, and he was very successful. He later went on to Sacramento and then San Francisco, where he also got huge numbers. When Entravision networked him on some of their stations, he beat Renan badly in markets like Las vegas and Phoenix.

Fortunately, he came to HBC and he has continued to win. Among the reasons are that he gets in before the show, and does not leave until 5 or 6 in the afternoon. Everything is well prepared and operates like a well-oiled machine. And he was #1 well before Univision owned radio stations.

Finally, when ratings show that listeners prefer Piolin more than the next two or three shows combined in competitive markets like LA, you can not say that the show is just pure promotion as there are plenty of alternatives and Piolin wins by huge margins.

I agree. Piolin really cares about what he does on the air and it shows. I listen to others and most of them come in never ready and just run the laugh track all morning long and stick to the me,me,me format.

If they run Renan on 106.3 that should kill that station. He was done a long time ago and I'm glad HBC dumped him when they did.
