Regional News Network ,Where Is The Local News?

Today I sent this e-mail to WRNN upon visiting their web site .This station calling themselves a news station is a joke. The local news -with rare exception - is often stale, and the broadcast has little local video. They proudly say they now cover all of NYC. Do they think WRNN really competes with the big boys? They have forgotten their mission to serve and inform the Hudson Valley. Cable news is better than this. They should rename themselves the infomercial network.
The e-mail I sent:
I came to this site with the crazy idea I might find some local news coverage. I was wrong there is no news. This should not be a surprise, given the lack of current local news on your TV broadcasts. Last night at the height of the Hudson Valley getting hammered with a severe storm, with severe storm warnings, and tornado watches in effect, your weather man was giving a forecast that seemed to have been taped early in the day. He mentioned the strong wind warning but that is all, nothing current.
Even the New York City stations had better coverage of what was happening here. I don't know how you call yourselves Regional News Network .what local coverage you do have seems to have come from the mornings newspapers.

I completely agree. Their news broadcasts "on the hour" are basically the same thing over and over. Most of the day they play a show advertising jewelry or infomercials. At least I think they still do, I haven't turned the network on in a few years. My family always used them for school closings and delays, but they started making them smaller on the screen, never updating them, and even posting FALSE information! One day they said our school district had a 2 hour delay, while in fact it was running on regular schedule. OOPS! I haven't turned the channel on since that day.

Hey, it's a sad fact that "programming" is a second thought. Programming today is just whatever you can stick between commercials. If you can do it as cheap as possible and still make revenue, well, that would be considered a huge success.

There may be people who care about programming, but they are being replaced by those who will work cheaper. Meaning, we get mediocrity with the added bonus of bad grammar, diction, and in some cases spelling.

Are there any "street reporters"? No. The best we can expect is a phone "sound bite" actuality.....

The bar has been lowered considerably, and it's all about the money. We let it happen.

God forbid, we will learn the hard way when "this is an actual emergency"...there is no one at the switch....
