Regular Guys Sound Great

So I'm out of market but am curious. Is the Atlanta radio mentality one in which when you get canned you just go home for a year and a half and wait for someone to flip and hire you?Do people in this market believe in just finding other jobs when they're let go?There seems to be a reluctance to leave the area and if you justify that by saying they have family and ties, then I'd say that's the nature of radio.Seems like a very small market mentality for a major market.

Understand one thing. Neither time were they fired for poor ratings. They were fired for pushing the line. They both tried pursuing jobs but it's a tight market. Larry was on Free FM NY a bunch before they flipped. Eric tried putting his own crew together also but Atlanta is a great place to live so stick it out as much as you can I guess and hope to get lucky.

Yes, here in Atlanta that is our mentality. You are very astute.

Actually, it's an 'attrractive area' mentality. North Georgia isn't a bad place to live, consequently people are willing to change jobs/career paths to stay in it. Or hang around hoping another one will surface before they have to move for economic reasons. TRG, Baron, Barnes, etc. seem to be content to wait for an opening in the area, as opposed to taking one elsewhere. One could add Moby to that list, I usppose.
