(Reinstated) 4EVER Insider: Roger Corey Out at WALY

So, they let a 17 year employee go because he might have been a little slow in freshening the music? Very classy.

Forevers version of a "good excuse" which was actually a poor excuse in disguise.

Plain words, they wanted to cut their expense of higher paid employees, so this was the loophole to let one go.

C'mon Forever, be respectful of your longtime employees, even if it hurts a little. Couldn't it wait till after the holidays?

Short of pulling a "Howard Stern" on the air, there was no justifiable reason to let someone like him go. I just don't know why companies feel they need to lie when they make a dismissal. Whatever happened to sitting down with someone and telling the truth, then making it up with a reasonable severance?

He'll be fine, I'm sure. Small market broadcasters. Gotta love em'. "You aren't making the right music moves for us".... You only pulled a 12, 12+.

I firing can be a difficult thing to accept. Heck, I remember the case of a guy who wanted to be PD so bad, he wrote notes behind the PD's back, telling the GM how he thought the PD was screwing up. This same guy was also speading crap thru the station about the PD. Eventually that PD did get fired and the little boy with the notes got the job. The PD now is an owner of a major trucking company...thousands of trucks and owns pieces of a bank and waste collection company. Maybe Roger can see him about a new job!

Dick,

Thank you for the reply and update, I know it is something that you didn't have to share with us, but it means a lot that you did. I am glad to hear Roger may have something in the works, or at least may have not been totally surprised by the decision. But as a friend, and listener, it will still never sit well with me to not hear him in the morning with you.

Best of wishes to both of you,

RG

Lack of revenue should have had NOTHING to do with Rogers release. Sales team hit goal for the month of November so a shortage of cash flow would be a poor excuse.
