Relevant Radio adds translators in Houston

Hopefully the 92.3 translator doesn’t just change the frequency on their AM receiver that’s fed over the air 😂

Isn't that what they're supposed to do? I can guarantee it will operate more reliably once Rev. Darrell Martin is gone.
No, they don't have to relay the AM signal. I've heard that done by another Catholic station in Springfield, Ohio, which at night would relay a Spanish language station in the Atlanta market with someone in the background droning on about the evils of birth control

K241CO, which rebroadcasts KSHJ on 96.1 in NW Harris County, used an off-air receiver to pick up the parent AM station during the first couple of years of the translator’s operation. At night the audio was just a mishmash of whatever was coming in on 1430, as the KSHJ night signal did not make it to the translator site. They eventually got a direct audio link, and the translator now sounds fine 24/7.
Isn't the one between Friendswood and Alvin on 96.1?
Correct, the 96.1 translator has been linked to KTEK even prior to the Relevant Radio acquisition a few years ago.

The FCC has approved the 92.3 translator sale to Relevant Radio, along with the 103.9 translator in Austin. Assume approval of the 96.9 sale will happen shortly.

What’s the point of 1430 even having that translator if it didn’t relay the AM at night?

As Mediafrog+ stated: They eventually got a direct audio link, and the translator now sounds fine 24/7. That problem has been rectified.

The 92.3 translator is still relaying 1140 over the air even at night. I doubt that translator has had 1 active listener within the past year. Even before the long period of dead air awhile ago there was this constant annoying high pitched tone over the audio.

Also 1140’s other translator has never been on the air on 95.9 in New Waverly or 106.5 in Cut and Shoot. I wonder if it’ll get sold. I’m sure someone would be interested in the 95.9 signal as I don’t see the 106.5 signal being useable a mile outside of that tower.

I know yesterday 92.3 was still broadcasting AM static because KYOK has been off the air for at least a few days now. Couldn’t hear it this morning because tropos was insane. It’ll be nice that these translators will actually get some use now.

92.3 Translator was airing AM static, could hear church songs in Spanish and the normal static AM stations have.

Nothing new. You were probably hearing KHFX on there. I’ve been checking almost every day to see when it goes to Relevant Radio.

Thought I was late to the game - but as of yesterday afternoon, 96.9 was Relevant (and also relevant), with RDS confirming the same.

I just checked and 92.3 is Relevant Radio now. It wasn’t last night. Not strong enough to get RDS.

Is it just me, or is Darrell Martin cashing out? Sold those 3 translators, and surrendered the atrocious AM in Killeen. Now he has a stand alone AM in Baytown, San Antonio, and Conroe, while "maintaining" an AM/translator in Beaumont, Wharton, and here in Tyler. I use the quotes around maintaining, because if KANI, KCHL, KYOK, and KZZB sound like our own KGLD up here, all of them are in serious trouble. 1330 is unlistenable. Audio is extremely low, with pops, crackle, and random electrical noises going out over the air. KGLD has remained one of the better maintained facilities, owned by Martin, over the years. Since the translator fired up, though, 1330 has been left to, apparently, rot on the vine.
