RELIGIOUS WHSG 63 MOVES MONROE ANTENNA TO ATLANTA

I think that has to be an old press release. I thought the digital facilities have always been with the other intown signals. The analog signal at shutdown in 2009 was east of town.

Are they really on Channel 63 or some other channel with the channel display saying 63, IIRC WSB TV Channel 2 is really on an UHF channel but the digital display is Channel 2.

Their frequency is "channel 44". (WSB is on 39)

There are no full-power stations operating on frequencies above "channel 51".

WHSG's permit is to move (very) roughly 4 miles north by northeast and increase power from 700kw to 1000kw. While this is an increase, it isn't a dramatic increase.

It's also interesting that DirecTV only carries TBN channel 4 (low power) which is mostly
Spanish..........instead of TBN full power 63. DirecTV feels that 63 has no local content
other than ID, while channel 4 does.

No, channel 4 analog is a completely different station and is all spanish (Azteca America network) except for some infomercials late at night that are in English.

Channel 4 = WUVM-LP Azteca America
Channel 63 (RF 44) = WHSG Trinity Broadcasting Network
+The Church Channel
+Jesus Christ TV
+Enlace (Spanish Religious)
+The Smile of A Child (scary kids religious programs)

This snip from Wikipedia leaves more questions than answers. How is DirecTV able to substitute
this channel for WHSG?

It is also seen locally on DirecTV, one of the few LPTV stations in the country to be seen on satellite TV (since must-carry does not apply to them), possibly because local WHSG-TV is not carried. Likely because of this extra carriage, it is also the only station in the Atlanta-area media market to not have a construction permit nor even an application for digital TV.

TBN probably made a group deal with the satellite companies, much as ION has, that allows them to not carry the local stations in exchange for carrying the various subchannels on a nationwide basis. It makes a lot of sense when you have very little local programming.

As for WUVM-LP, it's part of courting the Spanish-language viewers. Azteca America is apparently a desirable network to have, and the dish companies likely agreed to carry it so as to encourage viewers to sign up with their services.

Greg, that snip from wiki is once again from the page for ANALOG CHANNEL 4 WUVM-LP (AztecabAmerics) and is NOT (or *should not*) pertain to WHSG Channel 63 (RF bChannel 44) TBN.
