'Remain Silent Authority' Question

A station in our area filed for RSA status, and it was granted on March 23.

As of today (March 30), the station is still continuing normal operations. In a way, it's kinda hilarious, considering that they cited 'financial trouble' as reason for filing for silent status.

I assumed that if you filed to remain silent, that you had to go SILENT. Am I missing something here? Thanks!<P ID="signature">______________

No, the big crime is not telling Washington so they can start the clock on you when you actually go silent...

Not uncommon for a station to do this where they have to move & the new site is not ready/cp still pending, etc. Such as where local government condemms the site for new civic project, and wants the station off faster then the FCC is prepared to move.

Here, they may have filed this notice pending arrangement of new financing, possible sale or lma, or Chapter 11 filing. If all the ducks are in a row at the right time they may just stay on. If not, they pull the plug & send further notice to the Commission.
