Remember Eagle 106? Could it be time for the return of Eagle 106?

Ben-FM "I want to fly like an Eagle"
_______________________________

Do you remember Eagle 106. I was listening to Eagle 106 on youtube and thought," Could this work again in Philly today"? "Could this work on 95.7fm?

The NEW Eagle96 (95.7fm) playing real late 70's, 80's, 90's thru Today. Yes I know there may be one or two extra decades but there may only be one or two songs an our from the 70's and today. Mainstream hit songs and artist such as Adel.

What are your thoughts?

The Eagle isn't a a Phoenix? It's dead, buried and there's no value to resurrecting something that's been gone for 20 years.

95.7 is doing essentially that music mix now, 70s through today. Slapping a long dead name on it isn't going to magically change the overall situation except for radio geeks with an odd obsession for the past.

If Eagle 106 returned, it'd be a CHR like Q102 - aka what we need.

Where's the "99.9 The Hawk lives" fellow when you need him? ::)

It's in radio's best interest that "Eagle 106" remains extinct. The only exception to this rule is CBS-FM in New York.

We've had a few returns ourselves. Sunny104.5, famous56, ysp as rock.

However I agree. The time has passed for an Eagle106 return. I actually think the hot hits format could be brought back. Instead of using local single sales to base your top 30, just use local itunes sales.

Um, if it's a CHR like Q102...we already have that. So what, exactly, would having a second Q102 accomplish? (And that's setting aside the whole Wired matter for the time being.)

EAGLE 106: (These are my thoughts with a new Eagle96fm)

-On air talent, Awesome: We loved the energy, you guys were really personable!
-Music, CHR / 80,90: We need Green Day mix with Whitney Houston, Madonna mix with B52s, Roxett mixed with Billy Joel, Jane Child mixed Shaggy, Oasis Mixed with Eric Clapton,
Alanis morissett mixed with the cranberries, Marc Anthony mixed with Boyz II Men, Will Smith mixed with REM, Incubus mixed with Mariah Carey.
* Bring back 90's Freestyle for Q102 in the 90's mixed with Star 104.5 and Alice 104.5, Hmmm.......

Your Thoughts......

Philly needs a rebel and that was to be BEN FM, "NO RULES HERE......Playing Anything We Feel Like"

Hya Irish FL from part-Irish PA, :)

Dunno if the Hot Hits pursuit would be any more relevant than exhuming the Eagle 106 thing in 2012. The kids ain't listening. Too fragmented.

Every so often, we get WISX up this way, maybe 90 miles NNW of Philadelphia. It's sitthroughable. One out of four or five songs gets your ear to perk up, even if the presentation is little more than a corporate jukebox. That's about the same ratio of shrug-shrug-shrug-GOOD tunes as we had as teens ourselves back 'in the day', isn't it?

Of course, when you're told that the two or three best tunes you'd heard in the past two hours were by Lady Gaga, other considerations come into effect. Whatever.

Up here in Coal Country, we DO have an Eagle 107. They even carry Eagles games. But Eagle 107 is more of a chicken-Classic Rock/AoR station than anything as wound up as Top 40. A very good listen. I think that's as far back as it's humanly possible to 'retro' for anyone over 30 anymore.

Here are my presets of FM1 and FM2:

FM1:
1. 95.7 Ben-fm
2. 96.5 WRDW
3. 102.1 WIOQ
4. 104.5 Radio1045
5. 93.7 WSTW
6. 106.1 WISX

FM2:
1. Y102 WRFY
2. Wink 103.3 (WARM)
3. 96.9 WLAN Fm97
4. 96.1-(I think) WSOX
5. B101.1 WBEB
6. 98.1 WOGL

No more Elvis Durran, AT40 or 1 AM Infomercials! ;)

Plus, it could be more of a local-feel.

No Elvis and AT40 is covered by Wired.

It's done, it's buried, it's over.

Haha... No.

Wired is a heavily rap oriented CHR - it may "target" the same audience, but most people who like IOQ do not also like RDW. It used to be that way, then wired ventured more to rap when PHI flipped to RNB with 107.9 and 100.3

More people seem to tune to STW or ISX or PST then RDW when Elvis is on. Judging by just what I KNOW.

We need another CHR, RDW hasn't spun a Lady Gaga track in two years since 100.3 and 107.9 did the flip.

Let alone something like Kelly Clarkson...

I'd actually like a Dance CHR. Exactly like WRDW-HD2. Put that on 106.9 and profit.

I remember that as if it was yesterday. I still remember (somewhat) the aircheck..

"I turn my radio up to the top, this is the top of the dial at the top of the hour. We are 106.1, WEGX Philadelphia, a Mallright Station".

Welsh & Woody, where have you gone?

Worse Joke Wensday's anyone ?

Mr. Leonard (John Carrillo aka John Rio on the air when he wasn't doing a character) was on lots of morning show including the Z Morning Zoo in New York with Scott Shannon. I think he stayed with the station long after Shannon left. He was still contributing to the show at some point during the tenure of its current host, Elvis Duran, but I think he left a while ago. Probably long before the show got syndicated to Philly.

That may have been a few days (formats) before yesterday. I have a "top of the hour at the top of the dial" aircheck that IDs as WWSH Philadelphia, "The Top FM 106" and I believe they tried "Electric 106" after that before Malrite came in and put on the Eagle.
