REMEMBERING ART RUST JR.

It has been announced that legendary and pioneering sports broadcaster Art Rust Jr. passed away. He was 82.

Hearing him do sports commentary on WABC, he was a very fair and knowledgeable.

Any thoughts? Rest in peace. :'(

Art was an expert in all sports, especially in boxing. I phoned his show twice. One time I talked about the New York Jets. The second time I called in the screener said that Art wanted to talk about boxing, but since I knew very little about that sport, I had to decline after waiting on the line. He also was a weekend sports anchor on Channel 4 before his radio gigs at WMCA and WABC.

I rarely if ever phone talk shows since I hate being kept on hold.

I remember Art Rust Jr. predicting back in 1981 on his WABC Sport show there will be three divisions in MLB, East, Central and West and interleague play. All of that came true in 1994.

May Art rest in peace.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy
