Retired News Anchor Dennis Hudson died Sunday November 6, after a long illness. Dennis was most recently at WCBI-TV Channel 4 in Columbus,MS from 1991 until 2003. He retired two years ago. He started his broadcast career in his hometown of Louisville, MS and went on to Jackson, MS, Miami, FL, Mobile, AL, and Starkville, MS and probably a few other places.

He and I did the morning show on the old WKOR-AM Starkville in the late 70's. He was a 30-year friend. He will be missed.

This just hit me like a ton of bricks.... he has been on my mind off an on for the last few months.... I had the honor of being part of his morning show when I worked there (WKOR) in 84-86 and then we worked together a couple of years later- sharing the same devil. I don't know what to say.

> Funny the things you remember of a person. When I think of Dennis,I go back to Broadcasters Convention a few decades back at one of the old hotels. Our group had just left another boring session about Doppler radar or something and were headed to our rooms. As we walked past the pool area there sat a guy basking in the sun with a cool drink in his hand and looking like he didn't have a care in the world. I thought to myself, "now, that's what you're supposed to do at these conventions!". Like Fernando, Dennis always looked mahvelous!

Dennis was my PD at WKOR-AM/Starkville back around 1970-1971. A great, caring broadcaster!

I remember him as the guy who revealed to me, a new teen DJ, that the national charts were not always totally factual. I had no idea hype and payola existed!

I'll also never forget him busting me for playing special album versions and the long versions whenever I THOUGHT no one from the station was listening! I'd keep the long versions hidden down in the cabinet below the turntables. One day he walked into the control room while I was broadcasting. He took my precious long versions out of the cabinet and showed them to me! BUSTED!

I used to watch Dennis all throughout college and afterwards when I was working in Tupelo. I never knew him that well, but I did get the chance to meet him one time. Dennis was great guy, down to earth and he did a fantastic job behind the desk. I'm saddened to hear of his passing.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

This is TOTALLY off topic, but did you PD a station outside of Tuscaloosa in the mid/late 80's? I was working at an AM station in Fayette (WWWF/WLDX, they changed calls while I was there), and if you're who I think you are, I dropped by your station in the middle of nowhere, and spoke to who ever it was that was PD there.

Who ever it was (if it wasn't you) they impressed me with their professionalism and friendliness to a guy who was TOTALLY out of my element in an AM Country formatted radio station that doubled as the daily newspaper during my morning show in the middle of nowhere!

Yes I was PD at WHKW/Power 98 in Kennedy, Alabama... 1984-1986.

The donuts and bar b q were really good in Kennedy! They were supposed to move it to Birmingham, but the station got sold to a Huntsville broadcaster just before I left.

> Now this is interesting, Mark.i was pd/mornings over at Z100 in Columbus.boy did we have fun with you guys.use to call over and ask is the Power still on, as you recall we whipped yall like a step child with a 3kw fm..heck i told your owner he should move it to T town and go country like it is now WTXT.well looks like dunnivant bought it ,did just that and made Millions off it..when he sold it to CC.man ain't radio fun sometimes...Ray Fisher
