Remembering KOTV's Jim Giles

Wow! I was in Tulsa for Thanksgiving last month and saw his last TV broadcast. Hard to believe he's gone less than a month later. I had the pleasure of meeting him several times and talking to him when he did the forecast for K 95 FM in the early 90's. He was a true class act who will be missed. My condolences to his family and friends.

I grew up watching Jim Giles.... I sat through many an Oklahoma tornado warning glued to everything he was saying. Very sorry to hear of his passing.

Very sad news. I never knew him but grew up watching him. He will certainly be missed...our prayers for his friends & family who will miss him dearly.

Jim did our forecast on KXOJ from time to time as he filled in for Travis Meyer.

He was truly talented, a genuinely nice guy...

Gene Savage...of KRMG...told me that when he was a kid, he put together a home radio station set-up for a school project. Jim actually helped him out by doing his weather for him. Here's a high school kid with an interest in broadcasting. He calls a local TV meteorologist on a long-shot that he might be able to give him some advice, and Jim goes above and beyond.

Maybe we can get Gene on here to tell the story sometime.
