Remembering old radio

Dusty Dale Brooks said:
Back in the '70s Park Square was pretty weird. The bus stations were there and it was only about three blocks from The Combat Zone.

Any of you who worked at WMEX probably saw the same people.

When I worked part-time evenings and overnights at Greater Media on Stuart St (WMEX when it was oldies on 1150), right behind the old Greyhound station, my car was broken into twice during the two years I worked there 1986-1988.

The first time, they got the stereo (even though it was concealed inside the closed glove compartment) and some tools I had in the trunk.

After that, I left the new stereo and any other valuables at home, but the second time, they broke a window to get in only to find nothing worth taking.

From then on, I parked it with the doors unlocked, the windows rolled down (when not raining/snowing), the battery disconnected, and the distributor rotor and coil wire in my pockets in the studio. That way, they could get in without breaking anything, rummage around to their hearts content but not find anything of any value, and not be able to hotwire it (unless they brought a rotor and coil wire with them).
