Remembering Steve Church (Telos/Omnia)

Church fought a three-year battle with brain cancer. He passed away quietly at his home near
Cleveland, on September 28, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife Lana, stepson Dimitri, mother
Jacqueline Burgess, and brothers Brent Church, Dann Church and Todd Church. He was 57 years old.

Prayers and sympathies to the family. I had a brother who was a lead electrical engineer and program manager on the F16 and F111 die from this terrible cancer . I know first hand what they went thru.So sorry to hear this news.

Very sad. Condolences to the family and to the Telos/Omnia/Axia/Linear Acoustic family.

Was just reading the manual to a Delta 100 yesterday and his introduction with the origins of the company.

I'm so sorry to hear the news.

I always loved listening to his Sunday Night Live show on WFBQ. He was intelligent, thought provoking and cordial with his show.

His digital hybrid and early phone line impedance studies drastically improved the quality of talk-radio in the days of analog 1A1 systems.

He will be missed but his legacy will live on.

I really, really liked Steve! Over the years, I was lucky to have had a few memorable talks with him.

One of the remarkable things about him was his BS detector. Heaven help you if you tried to put one over on him! It didn't matter if it was a technical matter, or political or whatever. He was well-versed in just about every subject, and the leading authority in quite a few. What he didn't know (which wasn't much!) he was humble enough to say so.

In my opinion, every accolade I have read about him over the past few days is absolutely true. We're going to miss you, Steve Church!

Kind Regards,
David

I was very impressed with Steve and his work when I was a peddler a couple of decades ago, and I continued to be in awe of the great achievements from him and his team over the years.

I remember our station chief putting a Telos ONE in our mobile van in '93 or so. Up til then we'd been doing remotes using dry line drops that took a month or more to get deployed; with the ONE, we'd simply dial up the Motorola suitcase phone in the van, and then hit the ON switch... instant remote. And it sounded amazing! Suddenly we were doing live drops all over the place, from every coffee shop and street corner in our city. I firmly believe it was the Telos ONE that cemented that station's win with community involvement... without it, we'd never have been "everywhere."

Much respect to Steve, and much sympathy to his family at Telos. True visionaries are few and far between.
