Remote Audio

I am looking for a way to provide a higher quality of audio than POTS line or standard cell phone. I have a couple of stations that I do contract work for that do a ton of ballgames and remotes. They use Marti when they can but most of their ballgames are out of reach for the Marti.

They don't have alot of money to spend so that leaves out the "Bluebox" or similar.

I was wondering if anyone has used the services like Yahoo audio on their messenger.

Thoughts?

Definitely read my thread, especially the last post with recent experiences. I've got about $900 in the whole setup which includes a gator case, rackmount mixer, compressor/limiter, rackmount power strip and a custom panel I made with XLRs for mics so the guys on the road have no reason to dig around in the back of the case.

as for using yahoo messenger - I'd be weary. My wife sometimes talks to friends on it and the audio sounds horrible and constantly drops out and in general acts stupid.

skype might be a slightly better choice, I've read of a few people on here asking if it was worth using maybe someone has tried it and can report back.

There is a software solution that does 2 way audio called audiocompass but I was never able to get it to do much outside the station LAN. I tried it on verizon and AT&T with very poor results. audio constantly breaking up and dropping out. I hear they have pretty good support but I did not have the time to work with getting it to work I had to get something in service and fast.
