Remote Broadcast Equipment

Unfortunately we are using cell phones for our remote broadcasts. Modified cord with an XLR end--ear piece and mic=a tangled piece of junk. They work but look awful and break easily. Is here anyone using bluetooth with cell phones for remotes? I still need to have access to a mic. Looking for something really simple.

>>HELP?

What I ended up doing several years ago for a remote was a custom cable between the phone and a Shure 287 mixer. Using a good wireless mic I wasn't tethered to the phone and took the cues off-air, which may be impossible if your FM is running HD.

JK Audio has a bluetooth interface that they are pitching now. Haven't used it, so I can't ell you how well it works.

My only complaint is thy it seems to have pairing issues from time to time with the phone my client bought. It's annoying to have the talent have to deal with that problem.

I wouldn't use bluetooth, there is lossy compression involved and that seems like a steep price to pay for eliminating a 10 foot cable.

Also consider the phone uses lossy compression as well and adding that with bluetooth is not good.

Is this a LIVE live broadcast or just "call in's" If so the iPhone can record audio and then e-mail it to the studio with much higher quality than a standard cell call.
