I've been uploading my audio shows to Chirbit for a while now, and I've been doing it from home. I use a headset mic, and a PC to record (with Audacity 1.3) and create MP3 files of my finished projects. Then I upload those MP3 files to http://www.chirbit.com and people can listen from that site or download the MP3 files so they can use them to listen via Windows Media Player or their own Ipod or MP3 player.
I do this all from my house.
Now, I want to do broadcasts "on location" so to speak. I mainly want to do play-by-play of some of my hometown's sports teams, especially if the "actual" radio station in town gives up on high school basketball again this year! Of course, the games I "broadcast" would be tape delayed, available overnight the next day at http://www.chirbit.com/ThompsonAudioNetwork
I already have a few good mics that I've used for my "studio" shows. What's the oldest laptop that would work?
