REMOTES: Experience with USTREAM or Audio Compass?

We're debating as to which software solution would best work for us regarding with remotes.

I like Audio Compass because it was made specifically for Radio Remotes. The person running the company knows radio. It's not a software package for everything under the sun but is in fact made for radio stations.

My only concern about it is the cost.. You get a one year license and to adequately do a remote you need two remotes. This brings the cost up to $ 500. That's five hundred per year.

Yes they offer real support and that is a big plus. I tried contacting USTREAM days ago and I'm still waiting to get a response other than the usual "we received your email , we're very busy sending out we're very busy e-mails".

BUT... Ustream is completely free.

In five years I will have spent $ 2,500 with Audio Compass... The cost of some codecs have dropped dramatically.. for that price I can pick up two lower cost CODECS .... Five hundred a year, is just a little too rich for me.. I love what Audio Compass offer but USTREAM being a mess as it is, may be the better option for me right now because its free.

ANy other options? Also what is your experience with these companies? thanks! josh

Josh,

With all due respect, this is the SECOND thread you've started on (essentially) the same topic. So let me bottom line it for you.

UStream is free. If budget is your number one concern go with them. At least you won't have wasted any money trying it out.

Audio Compass isn't. But it's received a number of rave reviews (including one in your earlier thread). So if it's worth spending money to get a product that others have had great success with, then get it.

This isn't brain surgery.

Josh,

Do you think you will get different responses by starting a new thread on the same subject??? I think you have answered your own question, regardless of how good Audio Compass or any professional level product is that cost you money, it will lose out to UStream because that is free even though you feel it is crap. As they say, you get what you pay for my friend.

End of subject.

HI Rob & Nostalgia,

Thanks for your replies!

I mainly wrote the message to encourage more indepth responses of the two software packages and to see if there is another albeit lower cost solution than Audio Compass geared towards radio stations.

I would encourage people representing European, Australian, French and other foreign businesses that offer such applications to get back with a response. Nostalgia & Rob, yes I have heard from you but want to see if what other people have to say and what other solutions are also available. I'm sure you guys know a lot but I dare not suggest that you know everything.

A lot of the best software & hardware is coming from overseas, examples> Digigram (France), Barix, etc.

So with that said, if you have used either of the software programs aforementioned and can provide me more indepth information about the positives/negative relating to each or can provide me with another solution, please get back to me...

thanks josh

Rob & Nostalgia,

I guess those are my choices.. Haven't heard from anyone else though I was hoping there would be a low-cost alternative to Audio Compass, that's directly made for radio station use.

Audio Compass looks great but I feel it's too costly for a once a week remote. If he could offer it at a more affordable price about half of what he's charging, I would probably go that route.

Thank you for all your help! :)

Will keep you posted! josh
