'Miami Radio' News & Views

Aloha & Mahalo Scott,

I returned from my (nearly) two-week vacation escapade all throughout the beautiful Hawaiian Islands this (Sunday) morning, and I'm all caught up with the 'interesting' messages that were posted in this forum during my absence. I guess I didn't miss much. What happened to the 'Miami Radio' concept ?

I see that South Florida heritage radio guy David R. Ross resigned to take a high-profile position outside of the radio biz. I didn't see that coming.

I see that Y-100.7 still hasn't radically overhauled their 'bread-and-butter' morning show as of yet. Maybe they should just leave it alone. How about "Froggy & Footy In The Morning" ?

I guess they are still searching for a Program Director to steer the ship in the right direction.

Y-100.7 remained stagnant in the latest local ratings that were recently released with a 2.4 overall. I admittingly expected a sharp rebound from what I thought was an anomaly. AMOR has completed its long and consistent climb to become South Florida's brand new # 1 radio station with an amazing 6.1 overall. WILD-95.5 is the # 8 station in the Palm Beach market with a 3.0 overall. XL-106.7 is the # 12 station in the Orlando market with a 3.7 overall. 93.3-FLZ is the # 4 station in the Tampa market with a 5.3 overall. BIG APE is the # 5 station in the Jacksonville market with a 5.8 overall. (KISS-FM trails with a 3.7 overall.)

PD Pedro Javier Gonzalez, with whom I worked for many years in Puerto Rico has revitalized this heritage AC station. In PR, he was behind the group that had the #1, #2 and #3 stations in the US' most competitive market.
