Renda Broadcasting unplugs....

Broadcaster unplugs internet streaming. Yesterday, Renda Broadcasting pulled the plug on WSHH-FM (99.7) and WJAS-AM. Their Jax cluster went silent a while ago and I believe most of their stations are off or in the process. RIAA royalities and a bad economy didn't help.

Paid or free nationwide wireless internet access is in our future. And within 5 years ever car will be internet enabled. Already we're seeing an internet radio made by Blapunkt for automobiles. I have to ask the question, what does Blapunkt know that Renda doesn't?

Maybe somebody should ask them? I guess Renda likes looking in his rear view mirror.

I liked the 70's too...The music and hair were great.. LOL...

RIAA/SoundExchange are killing internet exposure of music and the way music gets exposed now is via the internet. They are trying to turn the clock back to an early 90s business model and that simply is not going to happen. Obviously it can be argued that label executives do not need the additional income that comes from these royalty charges since they are also operating at a high level of ineptitude and living in the past (surely you didn't think this was about the actual artists getting more money?!) while indies who need the exposure are strapped into a model where nonprofit and low budget internet streamers who would love to expose their music cannot afford to stream.

It sounds self destructive for these stations to pull their streams but it seems like there is no win-win in sight as the RIAA tries as hard as it can to pull the clock hands backward but at some point in time a realistic model is going to have to evolve!

If it's a choice between making payroll or paying the RIAA mafia, then payroll is more important..
The internet and streaming isn't going away, so going dark is a giant step backwards.
If royalties are the real issues, then Renda should dig deeper for the answers to his problems..
If Cox, Clear Channel and the rest of the idiots pull the plug, then I'd say Renda is a real trend setter.
LMAO..

So, pocket ...
The haterade directed at TR is strong in you and has been for some time.
What did he DO that was so evil and despicable? Maybe it's not an issue over royalties. Have you seen the cost of bandwidth? It's by no means cheap.
I believe Renda stations WILL be streaming again well ahead of the arrival of the People Meter. In the meantime, consider this ...
When was the last time Renda Broadcasting slashed $400 million and 1,800 jobs from their bottom line?
Check out market earnings for last year in Jax ... Cox and CC are bleeding to death ... Renda not so much.
The fiscally responsible are the survivors.
Wake up, dude. The dinosaurs are dying, and those you perceive to be "meek" shall indeed inherit Radio Earth.

Brutha, from the outside the little train that could seems like a nice little conservative family operation..
However, judging by the sheer volume of family members shot and dumped in the river, it's more like Tony Soprano's family.

I'm sure TR figures who needs streaming when you have towers, right? I agree with you Brutha, steaming will return as driving while looking in the rear view mirror can only last for so long. Even a dinosaur can change his mind.. Though looking back on history dinosaurs didn't survive did they? Unless you count Gators..
Brutha they eat their young..

Brutha don't romance a small cloned version of Clear Channel.

I do miss TR's terrific people skills, he yells, he screams, he threatens, jumping up and down like a wild banshee. Brutha it's hyper... LMAO..
