Rental available?

Anyone know of a company that rents equipment and might have
available an RF exposure meter for AM? I've found several
for FM but none, so far for AM. Working toward relocating
the fence for a 25-kW on 780 in prep for possible upgrade
to 50-kW.
______________

Thanks, Sam...

I tried the link and will pass it on to the guy who'll actually
do the work (I'm leaving here in about 10-days, my volunteer
project done). I did check the site but didn't find the instrument
we need. It's needed for near-field measurement, something a
normal AM field intensity meter (we have one) can't do. Still,
we'll need to call them next week to see if they have things
that aren't evident on the website.
______________

Narda makes a unit called a Nardalert. I beleive Tesco carries it. They are somewhat expensive $1300.00 but it covers 100khz through the at least 1ghz.

You could check with your local cellular or tower climber, they might rent it or be nice enough to demo it.

Our local tower climber just purchased one and carries it everytime he goes up the tower. $1300 is cheep insurance.

Thanks for the thought. The Nardalert is a different sort
of device...it's a personal monitor for RF exposure. What
need is a near-field measurement device. I haven't had
my hands on one in about 8 years and forget who made it
and the model name/number. I'm checking back with others
who were involved at that time to see if they can recall.
______________

Les,

Email Jeff Hugabone at WTIC in Hartford. He's a real guru when it comes to AM 'stuff' like that. He might be able to help you out.
If you want me to ask him, I will...

More specifics....

If you would be so kind, please. Or, perhaps, send his e-mail
address either to my "real" one (which I think you know) or to
the one in my profile.

Meanwhile, I've located one of the guys who was part of the
effort last time we had to do this and he provided this information:

--
The instrument package is:
Holaday HI-3012 Broadband Exposure Meter
MSE Probe, for measurement of the electric field
LFH Probe, for measurement of the magnetic field

At http://www.ashtead-technology.com/home.aspx?PageID=57 there's a 3012 for rent, but the magnetic probe is wrong, as you'll see from the specs. I believe that Holaday did make a magnetic field probe that was good down to 0.5 MHz. The report for the 25-kW upgrade about 9 years ago noted: "LFH probe calibrated for AM band." I have e-mailed two of Ashtead's rental locations and have not received a reply.

---

I'm going to visit their website myself in just a few minutes and might
get lucky. Perhaps Jeff will know of a different, equivalent, set
and/or another rental source...

We're not in a rush but gotta get our **** together before winter comes
and the site becomes near unworkable.
______________
