Repairing the Bridge

As we wait for another CHR format(yawn) to debut in place of "Santa 105.7", I had a crazy idea this afternoon for a format which could please an aging Baby Boomer like myself and X, Y generations etc. So far the "Bridge"(WKLI-100.9) seems to be going nowhere from what I hear on this site and see in the ratings. While I was driving around today I tuned them in. I noticed, as far as my musical tastes, that the only time the station came alive to me was when they played a funk/disco classic(I'm Your Boogie Man, You Dropped a Bomb On Me"). They played an Aerosmith classic which I could have easily heard on PYX 106. But I don't know of another station locally which plays R&B Gold with a beat. The idea came to me, why doesn't the "Bridge" morph into the "Beat"? Just add modern dance tracks to the Disco/Funk classics and I'll listen day and night. Other posters on this site have asked about a local "dance" format. And this would go perfectly with the history of 100.9 which back in the 70's was "Disco 101".
How about it? If anyone from Pamal or anyone who knows someone from Pamal management reads these posts why not give this format a try? The appeal would be across all ages.
I even have the first liner, "Party like it's 100.9!"

There's a lot of possibilities as to what The Bridge might become... WKBE simulcast perhaps? Now that'd be nice... that's one of the best stations in Saratoga/Glens Falls :D (moving WKBE in would be out of the question because of the ownership cap and maybe being too close to first-adjacent WDST in Woodstock, depending on chosen site for a move-in)

Or move Cat Country down to 100.9 and bring back modern rock as "Z104.9" on 104.9? You won't see anything like smooth jazz or urban AC from 6 Johnson Road anymore, and there'll likely be no changes at Pamal's big three (92.3, 95.5, 96.3)...

It's also too bad that Pamal hasn't joined in on the HD bandwagon yet, because simulcasting Magic on WYJB's HD2 would've been perfect :(

If anyone knows, how come pamal never made their stations HD yet?

Pamal won't invest in hybrid digital technology in their studios or at their transmitter sites, because they don't see digital (HD) radio as a viable sourrce yet.
I spoke to people there two years ago. Basically I was given the runaround. And then they told me "soon" YEA ok !!!
As far as this station "The Bridge" Don't expect PAMAL to do anything except COPY what is working for the Clear Channel and Townsquare stations that are at the top of the ratings.
Because all these companies are willing to do is COPY the stations that have the TOP ratings to steal them.
They just don't understand that the only way for a station to stand out is to be different and have originality. But FEAR is always what keeps terrestrial radio from truely standing out and being different. That's why 104.9 went Country (WGNA has been #1 since there we'r ratings) 100.9 went Hot AC, WRVE and WYPX have the 30+ crowd now and have been in the top TEN forever. Now 105.7 (whatever they intend on calling it) is another form of WRVE/WPYX.
They are all trying to steal the same listeners, and play what they think they want to hear. NO ORIGINALITY, just the SAME music wasting away another FM dial space !!!

Right frequency, wrong station. They would be too close to 100.1 WUPE in North Adams to move any closer.

I think the only way Pamal would ever go HD is if the FCC forced it on all full-power FM stations... which I doubt they will anytime soon (unlike DTV) :p

HD on AM however? IMO, bad idea... WOFX and WGY I-block DXing on neighboring frequencies :(
