Replacement antenna for Tecsun PL-310

I have a Siamese cat. He is very smart, and he loves to poke around radio gear. Any kind of radio gear.

Well, I had the PL-310 perched on a shelf where it would pick up the weak classical station I like to listen to. Of course, the cat had to investigate! So, he knocked the PL-310 onto the floor. The radio was unscathed, but the telescopic antenna was hurt... it lost one section. Does anyone know how I could get a replacement for it?

The PL-310 isn't marketed in the US, so parts could be tougher to find. I do know that the same ebay stores that sell it also sell some spare parts (like antennae). However, another option is to see if the mast for a G8 would work. I have both and they look to be the same size and configuration. Remember that, ultimately, the G8 is a neatened Tecsun PL-300WT. Eton sells the replacement antenna mast for the G8 here.

By the way, thanks for supplying me with further affirmation as to why I am a dog person! ;)

My possible option is to use another whip antenna from another radio, or get a replacement at Radio Shack, if the base of the antenna fits in with a screw.

I once read that a cat knocked a big GE multiband portable radio (similar to the Panasonic RF-2800/2900 series) off a shelf and broke it.

Different whip antennas have different connection configurations and diameters. The PL-310 actually has a fairly small whip. But it has the same diameter and connection as the G8, which is why I recommended that part. Doing so will have the performance back the way it was before the cat struck.

That's why it would be better for the OP if he picked up a replacement part that fits properly.

Gentlemen! Many thanks for your helpful suggestions! I appreciate them very much. Now, my cat is forgiven for his misdeed.

I may have overlooked at the connections, as the antennas used on the 310 and Eton E5/G5 appeared to have the same connection size though the Eton's is screwed in the opposite direction. (I have both radios)
