Replacement blower for FM-2.5K

Blower bearings were allowed to deteriorate until severe vibration set in.

Motor shop is quoting 350-400 to rebuild, or 900 for a 'replacement' (NOT guaranteed to fit!)

Anyone know where a spare is hiding, or have a replacement to recommend ?

Thanks

Gary

Definitely buy another so you have a spare...but for a rebuild...

We had a blower rebuilt for our 10kW FM for about $70-$80. You should be able to find a better quote than $300-$400 for a rebuild. If not, the guys in Miami that do a rebuild for $70-$80 are: Deruiter Electric Motor Co. 14261 So. Dixie Hwy. 33176. 305-235-5000. Probably well worth the shipping charges if that was the best quote you can get in your area.

I took a quick look at Grainger's web site: shows them to be a stocking distributor for Amtek-Rotron. They'd likely have what you need by model. Goodrich Enterprises might have it also. It isn't going to be cheap, but it ought to be available.

I had the same problem in an FM2-H3. I replaced the bearings myself. I got the bearings from the local NAPA
store for about $14.00 each. Its been running for about 3 years now.

well crap

called the shop to check the specs and the guy said 'it's done' for $ 353.38

I pointed out that I had specifically told him NOT to fix without authorization, and got some BS 'well its been slow here and our guy decided to do it'

I let the GM tear a piece of hide off him, went and picked it up, and it's back and running

Thanks for all the suggestions, just wish they had waited
