Replacement of WBZ's Gary Lapierre

Yeah, Rod Fritz is fine. I just can't stand LaPierre and now knowing he's talking from Florida ("Well, we have a cold one out there today, it's just 12 degrees, and the wind chill, blah blah blah...) just makes him more of a phoney to me. I'll look forward to not hearing him.

I'd suggest that WBZ try to sign Jay McQuad away from BC/BS, but I'm sure that will be very difficult. The second suggestion is unlikely but I'd love to see Deb Lawlor host the first 15 minutes of each half hour and Jordan Rich host the second 15 minutes. Jordan is very conversational, very relateable. I'd love to see it happen.

Hire a woman! Cindy Bailen from WGBH.

Carmelita from AAF. Shake things up! (OK, Carmelita only wants to do local music) -

seriously,

Robin Young from WBUR

Might this be the same woman who, early in her career, was at WBZ? Or a just a case of names-the-same?

Yes, one and the same.

She did an odd little, almost freeform show from 1 to 5 Sunday mornings in the mid-'70s. Everything from Nina Simone to Nilsson to the Paul Winter Consort ("Icarus," the show's closing theme), with extended anecdotes between song sets and commercials. I was a big fan in my college days.

This is the same Robin Young who went on to TV with "Evening Magazine" and NBC, too.

How about Pat Carroll?

She anchored at WEEI Newsradio during the late 80s and early 90s, and is now Morning Drive anchor at CBS flagship WCBS Newsradio 88.

Top flight talent with New England ties and experience.

That would be a good hire.
