Report: Fox Executive Confirms Multi-Year Deal With UFC

http://mma.sbnation.com/2011/8/16/2...evision-broadcast-deal-fx-mma-news-dana-white

Despite Dana White's insistence that the UFC's landmark deal with Fox has yet to be completed, latest reports indicate that an agreement has already been reached. HeavyMMA.com confirmed the announcement with a representative from Fox who wished to remain anonymous.

UFC is supposed to leave Versus and Spike at the end of the year, according to the report. The deal is said to be for seven-eight years. No further details were released.

Apparently, according to the article, FX and Versus would be getting some of the action. Why not include My Network TV given that network's experience with MMA?

Dana White probably wants nothing to do with My Network TV. He has built his empire from the ground up and My Network TV is such an abyssmal failure that he doesn't want to associate with it. At least FX and the other Fox channels have strong name recognition amongst males.

When you're going to get live clearances on Fox, who needs MyNet?

Maybe this is what FOX will replace the primetime NASCAR races with, at least from my point of view.

Seems ironic that FOX now has the hottest sport from 10 years ago and the hottest sport NOW under their belts.

If anything it indicates NASCAR's future on FOX, at least on primetime

Should make CBS' own MMA Saturday night franchise running head-to-head with Fox's UFC interesting.

It's official that FOX now has the UFC. Press release from the FOX Sports Media Group:

The first live event under the new contract airs Saturday, Nov. 12.

It should be interesting if FX uses their Saturday college football game of the week as a lead-in to any UFC matches during the fall.

I think the Saturday events are slated for Fox, in the slot once occupied by America's Most Wanted. Looks like the reality show is going to FX, and that other events will be done for FX as well. Reading between the lines, it also looks like UFC will provide some programming for the 11PM Saturday night slot, used to air repeats right now.

So we can say Versus soon to be (NBC Sports Network) made a trade with FOX. As FOX now gets UFC while NBC gets MLS Soccor.
NBC would rather deal with ESPN than FOX any day

JMO.....

Cheers :D

I doubt it. The UFC (And wrestling & boxing in general) isn't really considered a sport whereas NASCAR is

Don't forget the NFL

While Fox doesn't have rights to regular season primetime games, there's almost NOTHING precluding them from adding some playoff games to the primetime schedule though

And most of the Super Bowl is ALWAYS in primetime, no matter which network it's on

Cheers :D

Did you type that backwards? I think more people would consider UFC fighters athletes than NASCAR drivers ... boxing and WWE are another story.
